5 months!

Baby boy is five months old!  He is getting so big.  He already has two bottom teeth and he is starting to sit up and he is a rollin' boy!  As soon as we put him on his back, he rolls over and after a while he gets frustrated and wants to roll to his back but he can't quite figure it out.  Logan is the love of our lives.  He makes us laugh everyday.  He is always so smiley, I love it!  One of my favorite things about little Logan is that he LOVES music.  He loves it when I sing to him.  I feel like I have the best voice in the world (and if you've heard me sing, you know this is far from true).  And he absolutely loves "talking."  He thinks he's carrying a full conversation with you.  Joel and I are always giggling at all the fun new tricks he learns everyday.  I took this video today.  Enjoy!

Other news:  Charisa had her baby!!!  She was a week and a day over due.  Because the placenta was so old (41 weeks), the baby wasn't getting enough strength when the contractions started coming so they had to do a c-section.  It was a very emotional day but everything went great!!!  Mommy and baby are both happy and healthy!  Beckham Clark Jolley was born this morning at 7:40am, weighed 8 lbs 12 ounces and was 20 inches long.  Here's a sneak peak at my new adorable nephew and the newest member to the Long clan:

Laughing!

So today I started making a really weird noise and baby boy just started laughing!  Joel had just left for work so I immediately called him and had him listen.  Joel said "Oh man!  I am tempted to turn around and come back home! You HAVE to record it!"  I was like "No way, the noise I am making sounds so stupid!  I don't want that recorded!"  Anyway, he talked me into it and this is the video I got.  I must warn you though, the noise I am making sounds ridiculous.  Who even knows why he thought it was funny.  Enjoy!

*Strong neck!  No longer a bobble head!

*Look at those eyes.  I love this stinkin' kid!

*I think he's a little proud of himself.  Don't ya think?

Dear Logan,

I know you are too little to understand this but I want you to know how much joy you have brought into me and daddy's lives.  I love your fake coughs to try and get my attention.  I love when you smile at me with your toothless grin.  I love when I am looking away and look back at you only to see a huge smile on your face.  I love how you love being sung to.  I love how you love being read to and pat each page of the book as I read to you.  You poop on me, pee on me, barf and slobber on me all while smiling.  I love your giggle and how you're patient with dad and me as we learn how to take the best care of you but sometimes make mistakes.  I hope you know that dad and I lay in bed at night talking and giggling at the many things you do.  Who know that being a mom would bring so much happiness into my life.  Thank you for opening my heart in ways I never thought possible.  I love you little Logan and look forward to many, many years of laughter and fun adventures with you in our lives.

Love,
mom

Commencement

A week after Joel and I got married, I started the Elementary Education program at Utah Valley University.  These were some of the best years of my life and I met so many wonderful people.  I have absolutely loved receiving an education and learning how to be a good, effective teacher.  I have had so many influential teachers in my life who have helped me overcome some of my most challenging learning disabilities and I have always wanted to help children the way I have been helped. I put off teaching for the time being so I can be a stay-at-home mommy.  I have learned so much in the program and student teaching that I know is going to help me be a better mom.

Here are some of the pictures from my graduation:

April 26, 2012

*My proud mommy who has helped me so much along the way.

*My biggest strength and support.  I could not have done this without all of his love, encouragement, and many (many) pep talks as I struggled through math and discouragement and wanting to give up.  Joel, without you, this wouldn't have happened.  I love you with my whole heart!

                                         *Can you see me??

                                         *The proud (and handsome) husband

*My proud dad!  I will never forget my dad standing in most random spot to wave at me and give me a huge hug!  I was soo happy to see him!  I love you dad!

                                                   *My brother and cute niece

*Sister and brother-in-law.  Man I love these two!

                                       *My sweet mommy

                                         *The crew

*My biggest cheer leader!  He was pooped at the end of the night!

The Remodel

Here are some pictures of our house before we moved in.  I remember thinking at this point "are we every going to be able to move in??"  But we're all settled and moved in now and LOVING IT!  No noisy neighbors!  And it's nice not having to worry about being too loud at nights when Joel got off work late.  I love having more room and space!  It's awesome.  These are just the before pictures.  I'll have to post after pictures later.  Enjoy :)

*The downstairs hallway didn't have carpet for some reason...

*Typical split entry Utah home layout

*Particle board that had to be torn up from the entire top level.  Poor Joel
worked hours on end trying to tear this stuff up!  This delayed the move-in process for a few weeks.

*We had to get the floors ready to lay the tile in the kitchen

As new parents, we were so excited to bring our new little addition home.  We knew we would love him, we just didn't know how much.  Who would have thought that a little life who literally sucks the life out of you can bring you so much love and joy.  He has brought Joel and I closer together in ways I never thought possible.  I love Joel more now than I ever have.
